The Wedding of Alexander Stone Macnow and Nathan Lee Renner-Johnson

About 4 years ago the story began. Both Nathan and Alexander have a deep love for the arts. Nathan studied Theatre in college while Alexander studied Musicology, it’s hard to deny a perfect match when we see one. Nathan, who was raised in Maryland worked various jobs on the East coast before landing in Philadelphia, where he met Alexander.
The compassionate couple realized early on while bonding over bike rides and great food that they had found the supportive person they were meant to be with.

Wedding bells went off on May 20th 2017, when the two made the commitment to a life of love together at the Community Arts Center in Wallingford, PA. The search for the perfect venue can be overwhelming but knowing they wanted to stay close to family, Wallingford PA was the perfect choice. The Community Arts Center is “Unique, Inspiring and Creative” with rotating works of art throughout the year- a perfect combination for Alexander and Nathan.
The Bells Rung at 5PM, when the couple got married under a beautiful Chuppah. The Chuppah was constructed by the artistic friends of the Grooms’ and embellished with florals from our Team. The results were stunning!
With the art already at the venue and the help of friends and our team their vision quickly came to life! Greens and Blues, for this masculine couple with a blend of rustic and industrial styles.

The Reception was a hit, celebrating both the marriage and a birthday! Nan, as everyone dear to her calls her- Turned 90 on May 20th, 2017 which made it an extra special day for everyone! Grandpa is 88, which means a very long life of love for Alexander and Nathan.
Celebrating with Cakes of all assortments, music, dancing and art the evening came to an end. Thank you Alexander and Nathan for allowing Carl Alan to play such an important part in your special day!

Wedding of Amber-Joi and Thomas

A story you’ll fall in love with! On April 18th 2015, a lovely couple tied the knot in Philadelphia. Some may know this bride as former Miss Pennsylvania USA 2011. This beautiful bride met her match, Thomas, in Philadelphia and said “I Do” at the Ritz Carlton on Broad Street. These pictures by Ron Soliman Photojournalism show detail and perfection. His style of photography was perfect to capture the love and light this couple beholds.

A simplistic and classic, ivory rose bouquet accented her beaded and embroidered dress by YSA Makino. A touch of sparkle in her bouquet accented Amber’s exquisite jewelry.

Amber Joi had her spotless makeup done by Shatoya Worth and her soft, lush curls were created by Stacey Gallo from Mora Salon.

Colors of white and ivory with accents of green and silver complimented the Ritz Ballroom perfectly! A romantic mix of texture and candle light kept this party on the dance floor…which may I comment looked superb with their custom monogram and lighting by Synergetic Sounds. Calla lilies, roses, hydrangeas oh my!

A sweet ending included lemon raspberry cake from Van Earl Cakes.. yum! The cherry on top?! A honeymoon in Bora Bora.. {we’re starting to daydream of palm trees and soft sand..}

This couple was amazing to work with and we’re thrilled we could be a part of such a special moment in their lives. We asked how she enjoyed working with our team; “Fabulous. I loved working with Vito!”

Wedding of Sara and Marc

Many of our brides and grooms meet in grade school, high school and even college. Often times we see them part ways to grow and find themselves. It never ceases to amaze me how many of these couples find their way back to each other, often not trying. Fate leads them back together. This couple is a perfect example!

Sara and Marc met in high school  but the real connection started after college. This couple knew they wanted to share a romantic, November day with the ones that matter the most. What a better place to enjoy the season but Pomme in Radnor Valley. Catering by Peachtree & Ward made this night one to remember through palette and ambience.

Pomme glows in candlelight and the exquisite gardening details around the property make a perfect backdrop for their breathtaking photos. Kate and Tricia from Love Me Do Photography captures texture, energy and emotion.

Sara’s explains her first impression when seeing all her details come to life on November 7th; “I was stunned that everyone involved was able to make our vision a reality.” Both Sara and Marc couldn’t believe the day had finally arrived!

This couple accented the season with bold pops of orange, purples and greens. Rich and lush flowers including ranunculus, amaranthus, roses and more were used along side branches, hanging candles and accents of natural moss.

She found her dress at Kleinfeld in Manhattan. Designer, Monique Lhuillier fit Sara’s style perfectly! Her hair done by Sarah Downey and makeup by Danielle Cordero were detailed to accent her already radiating beauty.

Both families were more than excited to see this couple tie the knot! Everyone wanted to ensure this day was perfectly planned. As their night came to an end this couple was ready to enjoy a warm and sunshine filled honeymoon in Hawaii. Oh, how we’d love to be there right now!

As we thoroughly enjoyed working with this couple they too explained their joy in working with us; “Heather was amazing, she knew the vision and idea we were going for right from the start and executed it beautifully. My best friend and Matron of Honor used Carl Alan for her wedding.”

Thank you Sara and Marc for choosing us to bring out those romantic details for you wedding day!

Wedding of Samantha and Michael

While studying at Syracuse University, Samantha and Michael crossed paths through mutual groups of friends. The real connection came after they graduated. Their friends had guests over to watch the Syracuse Basketball game…for the love of basketball! It took about five months after that for this duo to start officially dating. Samantha explains, “…and from that point on we knew that we would be watching a lot of Syracuse basketball games in our future.”

This couple knew from the beginning what they wanted out of their relationship. They spent time getting to know each other and after a weekend of laughs, food and wine they began to fall in love. As excitement took over, their planning turned to simple elegance as they finalized details for their “Fall Chic,” November 7th wedding. “It felt like we were planning something but it never felt real until we saw it all come together. So many different components go into planning and seeing everything come to life was so much fun,” said Samantha.

As the anticipation led up to their day, Samantha and Michael saw each other for the first time with a sparkle in their eye. Tears were replaced with joy and excitement. I was surprised that we didn’t cry but I think it was because we were both just so excited and on cloud nine from that moment on.” – Samantha

Their love story unfolded at the Westin Hotel in Philadelphia. Having ceremony and reception in one location made it easy and carefree for each guest in attendance.

This ‘Fall Chic’ wedding was accented with natural branches, purple and white floral and glowing candle light. Floating candles, votive’s and up-lights created the romantic ambience this couple dreamed for!

Samantha felt lucky to have her mother help her with planning details as planning from out-of-state can be challenging. Samantha and her mother have similar tastes so this made the planning smooth as could be! Samantha found her dress at Kleinfeld in Manhattan. As she didn’t expect to find her dress on the first outing, third time’s a charm! She fell in love at first sight and knew that she found the perfect dress by designer Monique Lhuillier.

Their decadent cake came from The Caketeria in Newtown, PA. Samantha explained, We didn’t do a formal cake cutting because we didn’t want to stop the party, so we had it behind our sweetheart table and cut it while everyone was eating dinner. I think I ate more cake than anything else on our wedding night!”

They used Chris Hensel for photography who captured the true details behind the lens. His stunning photos capture unique angles and lighting. The true essence of love shines through his ‘in-the-moment’ shots. Pat with TagVisual created a stunning keepsake for this couple… it’s hard not to cry when watching their story unfold!

Endless amounts of wine and breathtaking mountain views was just the ticket for their honeymoon escape. Michael planned their trip and Samantha couldn’t have been happier as they explored South America together as newlyweds.

“My mom found out about Carl Alan Designs through a friend, and I’m so glad she did! That was one of the most fun days of planning we had throughout the process…. our flowers were absolutely stunning.” – Samantha

Wedding of Jessica and Nicholaus

This post is nothing short of a love story. This couple was destined to meet and start their journey together in Philadelphia, PA. Jessica and Nicholaus met through mutual rowing friends here in the city. In 2009, Nicholaus was interviewed to be Jessica’s roommate. Although he moved elsewhere, fate brought them back together!

This lovely couple took their time getting to know each other over the next year or so. After two months of actually dating this couple knew they were meant to be.  “When I knew that Nick was the one for me, I just saw us being married.” – Jessica

As Jessica and Nicholaus started to plan their dream day for November 7th, Nick’s vision started to come to life. Jessica was laid back about the details as she knew the most important detail was Nick himself. Nick ensured that all of his family and friends had the best time possible. They decided to hold a cocktail style rehearsal dinner allowing their family and friends to mingle and converse before their wedding day.

As their day unfolded and Jessica saw Nick for the first time she felt pure happiness. As she felt in the beginning, this was easy as she knew she was marrying the man of her dreams! Jessica said, I felt like my heart was going to come out of my chest because I felt so much love for him.”

This couple succeeded in bringing in a classical romantic theme. This was fitting as their ceremony and reception were both held in ornate venues. The ceremony started at the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul while the party continued to PAFA.

Their décor complimented this space with blush pink roses, white stock, and accents of soft greens and dusty miller. Touches of mercury glass accented the historic details and artwork that PAFA displays.

Jessica originally found her dress in Texas while traveling for a reunion. On her return to Philadelphia, she knew she had to find it again! After searching the area, she found her dream dress at Claire’s Fashions in Wilmington, DE. A beautifully detailed gown by David Tutera.

A Sweet Ending: Instead of cake, this couple worked with Be Well Bakery in Huntingdon Valley, PA. This bake shop specializes in gluten free options including brownie cups and different flavored fillings. Their cupcakes and tuxedo cups were a hit… and they’re making our mouths water!

Their breathtaking photos were captured by Ashley Gerrity Photography. Jessica and Nick felt thankful they found Ashley available for their date. Her detail shots truly capture the love and beauty this couple radiates.

“I heard about Carl Alan through a couple friends who used you for their weddings. I couldn’t have been more pleased. All of our requests were respected and seen to. I didn’t want anything over the top and Carl Alan saw my vision and breathed life into it. We had such a wonderful experience.” – Jessica

Thank you Jessica and Nick for choosing us to bring out those romantic details for you wedding day!

Wedding of Sloane and Daniel

The love and excitement was uncontainable at this wedding! It popped like champagne and flowed throughout the day, through Vie and down the streets of Philadelphia. Sloane and Daniel met while attending Penn State and after dating for six years, being engaged for a year and a half..The day had finally arrived for these college sweethearts to become Mr. and Mrs..

We asked when they knew they were in love and Sloane replied, “After a few months of dating we had spent a week away from each other for spring break. We were both out of the country so talking was hard.. We both knew then that this was something special!” Just how special? Their wedding revealed it all!

When seeing her wedding vision come to life on September 12th, Sloane said, “I was blown away. It was more beautiful than I imagined. My mom and Vito’s sketches truly came to life!”

Sloane and Dan wanted a very romantic wedding and flowers were an extremely important part for them in bringing that look and feel together.  The bride’s bouquet was made up of ivory roses, soft blush roses with white ranunculus and freesia. The bridesmaids had bouquets of blush roses. The addition of broaches onto the handle of each bouquet enhanced the beauty.

The chuppah enveloped the bride and groom in class and elegance. Adorned in clusters of lush white hydrangea, blush astilbe, pink gerbera daisies, roses and cascading white orchids. And what better way to celebrate being newlyweds than honeymooning in New Zealand and Bora Bora!

“Our experience [..with Carl Alan Floral Design] was amazing. Vito was unbelievable and spent so much time perfecting our vision.  I was seriously blown away by everything that he did!  Flowers were one of the most important parts of our wedding, especially for my mom so she spent a lot of time researching florists. The minute we met Vito and Carl we knew they were it!”

Thank you to Sloane and Dan for choosing us to bring out that special romance for you wedding day!
